Echofon Security Tip: always use SSL
If you are a user of Echofon twitter client on your iPhone or iPad, the most recent versions (as of this writing) include the ability to use encrypted connections to Twitter servers. However by default encryption is only used for authentication; once authenticated your actions are sent in the clear. While at first glance this may seen fine as your tweets are publicly viewable anyway, with tools like Firesheep freely available keeping your communications secure whenever possible is not just a best practice, is a requirement.
If this is something that matters to you take a moment now to update your Echofon settings to always use encryption. To change this setting from the Home view tap the Menu button. On the Menu view tap the Settings button at the bottom of the view:
Scroll to the bottom of the settings view then tap the "Use SSL" setting:
On the Use SSL view tap "All Requests".
Tap the button in the top left to back out to the Home view.
