Today was purple kale harvesting day. Part of went to these yummy kale chips: kale leaves ripped into pieces, tossed in EVOO & sea salt, then toasted in a 275 degree oven for 20 minutes.

I spent a hot, floating holiday Monday doing one of my favorite hikes in Ojai. The trail was dry & dusty, though how dusty was not apparent until I got home. A bit of this is tan but most is dirt.

In the almost 10 years of venturing to the Terra Cotta Inn in Palm Springs for vacations and extended weekends we never got around to taking the tram up to Mt San Jacinto. In winter months we didn't come equipped to trudge through snow we saw when we looked up - the trip to Palm Springs was an escape from that. So this August's visit provided the perfect time to get on the tram. The 45 degree drop in temps to a pleasant 69 degrees was also a welcomed diversion from the heat 2 miles below.
So with that story over comes several photos.
At one time escaping from a building meant doing that from the outside, not the inside. Just about everywhere you look in Downtown Chicago are examples of that.
